Patrick K. Schelble In July 2020 Patrick founded ARCS-SPAN and is serving as the Executive Director. He was born and raised in Tucson and has great passion for service, working with youth, and creating more compassion within our community.
Patrick graduated from Santa Clara University 2001 with a BA in Religious Studies, later that same year he enlisted to serve as an Intelligence Analyst in the US Army and started basic training on September 11. In 2003 on Veteran’s Day, he deployed to Iraq for a year long tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. |
After completing his Army service obligation, Patrick worked as a contractor doing Counterintelligence support in Washington, DC. Patrick later returned to Tucson to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) graduate degree and serve in the US Army Reserve. After receiving his MBA, he worked for the next five years as a program manager supporting US Army Intelligence Battle Lab in Ft. Huachuca, AZ.
In the Fall of 2013, Patrick transitioned into at a new career and a life-trajectory change when he started teaching Health and US History at Eastpointe High School (supporting at-risk students). In the second year of working at Eastpointe he accepted an offer to become the school’s Assistant Principal and Basketball Head Coach, then later served as the school’s Principal. After five incredible years supporting students, staff, and community at Eastpointe, Patrick created ARCS-SPAN as a new way to continue to serve and to meet a broader set of adversity and challenges facing adolescents and young adults.

Eduardo ZapataEd was born and raised in Tucson. He graduated from Tucson High Magnet School and graduated with a BS in Psychology from the University of Arizona. After graduation, Ed worked with Patrick Schelble at the Tucson Learning Community, as a counselor until qualifying and attending University of Arizona’s College of Law for two years. Ed then worked in real estate in Flagstaff and Tucson. In 2009, Ed completed an MBA and spent the next two years working for a large scale event management organization- Professional Event Management (ProEM) in Phoenix. Ed has worked for the Tohono O’odham Nation in the Marketing Department for the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise for the last ten years.

Errol Springs IIErrol is a Bay Area native who studied Computer Science at Santa Clara University prior to launching a career in software engineering. He's managed software teams in telecommunications, cloud and hardware device technologies for over 23 years. His passion for quality and customers has helped bring product innovation to homes in ways you're likely to use every day. In his spare time Errol donates his time and energy to youth sports programs and organizations supporting the San Jose community.

Eli NielsenEli grew up in Tucson, AZ before joining the US Army. He spent 5 years as sergeant and Intelligence Analyst. After the army he received his degree in urban planning from ASU. In 2009 Eli moved back to Tucson and founded EcoSense Sustainable Landscaping LLC, with the goal of creating the most bad-ass sustainable-landscape company in the galaxy. Eli has been running his veteran owned business in Tucson for the past 11 years and has seen his company blossom.

Jennifer KendallJenny’s most recently was teaching at Eastpointe High School. At Eastpointe she developed an innovative Animal Science course incorporating companion animal behavior studies, and co-developed Myths and Monsters course that explored the Hero’s Journey using the works of Neil Gaiman, comics, and film. Previous teaching experience included 8 years as a facilitator for University of Phoenix teaching Research and Evaluation courses (statistics) in the Undergraduate Business school and the Quantitative Reasoning and Quantitative Methods in the Graduate Business School for the MBA program. She also teaches yoga and spent 8 years at Desert Horse Yoga as a yoga therapist and animal assisted yoga therapist.

Dr. Toure KnightonToure is a board certified physician in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, both by the American Board of Anesthesiology. After graduating from Tucson High School, receiving honors both academically and athletically, he embarked on a career in professional baseball after being drafted by the Texas Rangers. He began his college education at the University of San Diego during the fall/winter semesters of the baseball off-seasons. After several seasons, he came to a decision to return to college full-time at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ where he played basketball and completed an undergraduate degree in chemistry. He attended Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, MI and completed a residency in Anesthesiology and received further training in a one-year accredited Pain Medicine fellowship, both at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He returned to Phoenix to begin his career as a Pain Medicine physician and has been practicing in Phoenix for the past nine years.

Santino ‘Sonny’ FelixSonny is a Team Leader for the only major Microsoft 365 partner site in Arizona, with additional roles in management, training, and company-wide cultural development. Previously, Sonny has IT and coaching experience working many years for both the Tucson Unified and Sunnyside Unified School Districts. In various positions he has supported the Operations, IT, Special Education and Library Science departments. He received accolades in both districts which include, Support Person of the Year in both IT and Special Education, the 2018 Coach of the year Runner-Up for 5A Boys Volleyball, and multiple Best Sportsmanship Team/Coaching awards. Sonny has over two decades coaching youth Volleyball and Basketball for all levels of K-12, club teams and school teams. Sonny has a proven knack for working with at-risk youths and has mentored several through severe times of adversity, supporting them to identify and take advantage of opportunities. Sonny brings these ideals and values to any problem he encounters, as he truly believes that every problem has a solution.
